Blue Plate Restaurant

The Blue Plate is one of the best places to get true southern style food. They consistently have good service and good food along with low wait times (if any). I highly recommend getting the daily dessert and daily vegetable if you have trouble deciding, they never disappoint. Overall, a really great, family friendly place to eat for lunch or dinner.

BLT is awesome! I had to ask for mayo, tho, but it wasn't a big deal. Staff were attentive and efficient. We'll be back!

The food is delicious, I can't deny that. However, the portions are too small for the price. I paid $12 for a catfish meal and the size of the catfish was very disappointing. Plus, the sides where just a handful. Maybe this is just for to-go plates? Regardless, I won't be back. For that amount of money, I expect to have leftovers (I'm a moderate eater) and I had NONE!

HorribleRight now everything is still curbside pick-up which is fine. I eat that this restaurant 2 to 3 times a week. Tonight on 04/29/2020 I ordered the chicken and dumplings along with everyone else's food. When I got home my chicken and dumplings was mostly soup with one dumpling and not one piece of chicken. Everyone else's food was good. I completely understand with what is going on in this country at the moment. Still there is no excuse for a meal to come out like this.

Don't let the location fool you ( it's attached to a power sports retail store) this place has top notch service and excellent food. Any of the blue plate dinners are a great choice but be sure check out the daily specials they are worth it also.

Down home cooking, blue plate specials (of course!), vegetables, burgers, sandwiches, salads, desserts. We had fried chicken gizzards (delicious) and country fried cube steak (crispy and juicy) served with gravy of your choice. When you're seated you get a basket of biscuits and fried cornbread. A very rustic appearance, clean, with great service! On the way out, at the register, I bought a slice of 17 thin layers cake with chocolate icing, yum!! Definitely going back again!

Great southern cooking. Large servings on the dinners. Could not eat all and took the leftovers home with me.

I tried them 10 minutes before closing and it was still fresh and the ladies were friendly.

Some of the best country cooking that I've had in a very long time. The only problem I have now is I live four hours drive away and won't be back in the area for quite some time to eat there again.

Very poor service. Being single they asked if I could sit at the bar and that is not a problem it was Sunday and busy. I sat for over 5 min with zero attention or acknowledgment I was sitting there. The waitress helped everyone around me and just over looked me 100%. I felt like a member of the family no one wanted to talk to.

Fried chicken is the best I've ever had. All sides are also wonderful.

Blue Plate sells a Thankgiving Stuffing/Dressing during the holidays every year. I purchased a "small tray" for $24.00 this year that fed 10 adults at my Thanksgiving dinner with more than half a tray left over. It was a huge success, one of the BEST dressings I've ever eaten! Its homemade by a local woman who sells it to Blue Plate. Oh yes! It comes with a giblet gravy as well!. A MUST TRY😊

You have to try their pork ribeye. Everything I've ever eaten at this restaurant has just been great. I would suggest this restaurant to anyone that loves some good country cooking. If you pass by it and you're hungry you're missing out on a great meal with courteous service with a smile.

It has not been 7 months since I visited there. I usually go with my brother and sisterinlaw and they pay. Sometimes I go with my son and he pays. We have had 2 family reunions that was fantastic. The waiters and waitresses are always friendly. We have another reunion being planned right now. Love going there.

I love fried chicken with bone in it. They dont serve that here.The portions are small the price for what little bit of food is too high.

I ordered beef livers and had deserts of bread pudding..... The hostess was prompt and friendly. She offered me more tea without me even having to ask... I will go back , the food was good home cooking ...

We had a fantastic server. He had dark skin & long dread-locks. Very attentive. I had chicken salad plate with fruit. Ckn salad was really good and moist. Would have preferred some cranberries, grapes or something in it, but that reflects my taste where they created something that was palatable to a generalized patron group. will eat there again.

My husband loved his food. Mine was okay. Our server was very sweet and attentive. We are traveling home from vacation and this is my first visit. Ladies room toilets needed deep cleaning.

The best home cooked meals in town. I have to confess that when I've had guest in town I've been tempted to bring something home and pass it off as my own recipes. But then I'd have to wash the dishes. So, I always take them to the Blue Plate. Thanks Blue Plate for making me the best hostess in town! :-)

Great Prices, great food and great service. This place is a example of southern hospitality and food at its finest. If you want some good food come here because you won’t regret it. I will definitely come back.

The Blue Plate restaurant was good southern cooking, large portions and a lot of fried options. The onion rings were great! Alabama is the place for catfish, none was grilled and very tasty. The chicken fried steak was good with a few stringy parts. The fried okra was a little greasy. But all in all we enjoyed our meal.

Food was pretty good until I got a pretty good size chicken bone in my mouth in the chicken and dumplings. At first the manager only wanted to give me a dessert. But I was too full. So he asked what else he could do. I told him to take some money off. He finally did. He should have comped my meal.

Really good authentic southern cookin'. Very friendly staff. Reasonably priced. Clean. Something for everyone on their menu. I highly recommend

The food is good, but today I asked the cashier at Blue Plate south for a to go order. After she was done looking at her phone, she said "what do you want" very rude!! Someone needs to check their attitude. Customer service was horrible today. Please find someone else to work the register that is actually happy that customers come in.

Good food. Nice people. I have had better but, this is better than Cracker Barrel.😎

We go a lot,the food is good. But the mashed potatoes and vegetables are just warm not hot. The meat is generally always hot and good. We love the buttermilk chicken breast. Maybe they dip up the vegetables while they wait for the chicken to cook. And one more suggestion, can you give us a purse hook in the stalls, we don't want to set our purses on the floor or back of the toilet. Regardless, we will continue to come, I will just have to have yall heat up my veggies.

I ate here for the first time since all the Dothan restaurants shut down except curbside. I was so tired if chicken sandwiches I thought I would try blue plate. It was the worst meatloaf I ever had. The lease tasted sour and the cornbread was cold and hard. If this is good homecooking I don't want anymore. I think my 16.00 should be refunded.

This is my Paw-in-law's favorite place to have lunch. Pretty decent selection and price, always happy with the service. We go there anytime we visit Dothan and I get the bonus of wandering the attached power sports store.

We accidentally ended up at the Blue Plate on our way home from the beach. We will definitely return. The service, price, food quality, menu options are like Cracker Barrel on steroids. The peach cobbler and million layer chocolate cake is worth every calorie.

The food was just incredible, I had the vegetable sampler. The waitress was super attentive and nice. We will definitely go back whenever we are in town!
